In this pivotal year for the Encore Network, the Leadership Council has selected Alicia Ritter as our new executive director, starting September 14. She will work closely with Network lead Betsy Werley and other leaders to ensure a smooth transition.
Ritter, a resident of Corvallis, Oregon, was chosen from 100 candidates for her communications expertise, commitment to the nonprofit sector in paid and volunteer roles, and experience with startups and fast-growth organizations (four by age 35).
“I’ve worked up close and personally with the nonprofit community in three decades of volunteer board work,” she said, “chairing dozens of committees, many times ascending to the role of board chair.”
Leadership Council Chair Janine Vanderburg is thrilled to welcome Alicia on board. “The Network is more important than ever, with rampant ageism, strong headwinds for older workers, and leaders challenged to do more with fewer resources. Alicia brings invaluable experience in creating awareness, influencing attitudes and spurring action toward a desired result. Her track record of working with volunteers and leading through transitions is just what we need in this ‘building the plane while flying it’ period. We know Alicia will move the Network forward, benefiting from the foundation laid by Betsy, Network leaders and members over the past seven years.”
Alicia looks forward to meeting members, starting with our September 30 Town Hall (register here). “At this stage in my life, I wish to help, serve and get meaning from my days, building a movement dedicated to the power and potential of the second half of life.”
