Richard Ross has advocated for the economic value and dignity of older workers for a lifetime. In his 20s, he joined and then led Mature Temps, an employment agency specializing in placing people over 50 in a variety of temporary positions. Quoted in the New York Times in 1979, he said a banking client told him that older “workers were more reliable and more productive than younger employees” and that they lowered his costs as a result. After his retirement from Mature Temps, Richard continues to promote opportunities for people over 50, working with AARP and Manpower Group to create Job Connections for Mature Workers. This arm of Manpower Group recruits older job seekers into remote roles in which they can earn money while working safely from home. Richard is an active member of the Encore Network and the Over-50 Employment Affinity Group.
