In the past decade, Kate has championed the value of older adults, leading multiple programs: Shift, Life Planning Network and AARP Minnesota (State President). She did the heavy lifting to create the Encore Talent Works toolkit, a resource for social sector organizations to engage experienced talent. With Phyllis Moen, Kate co-founded the University of Minnesota's Advanced Careers (UMAC) program, the first public university program to prepares encore adults for social impact careers and civic engagement. Kate serves as a member of the Encore Network Leadership Council, focused on membership growth and retention. She’s a psychologist by training, a connector by nature, and an innovator by design.
