What Do I Want to Be When I Grow Up?
May 4 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm EDTFree
During transitions, it can be hard to maintain a clear sense of who we are. Research shows that our aspirations are shaped by more than just us. Powerful social forces are also at work, including our close connections and cultural expectations.
Professor Ofer Sharone, of UMass Amherst, will help us understand the forces that shape our aspirations and how we can use them to reclaim our sense of direction. Dr. Sharone studies career transitions and the sociology of association. He is author of Flawed System/Flawed Self: Job Searching and Unemployment Experiences.
