Intergenerational Affinity Group

April 11 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm EDT

Virtual Event Virtual Event
Free

The Intergenerational Affinity Group is a self-driven forum of the Encore Network, composed of Network members dedicated to linking the generations to create a better future for all. We gather on the second Tuesday of every month to share experiences, learn, and advocate together. We take on a small number of relevant projects as merited.

If you have questions about the group, please contact Clint Wilkins.

April Meeting Agenda:

The meeting will feature our own Dot Keenan, the founder and executive director of GrandInvolve, a nonprofit that serves children in 26 of the 42 Title One elementary schools in Fairfax County, VA.  She will share how she transitioned from working with older adults into her encore career in nonprofits and education, including what it’s like to be a founder.

She will also frame a number of issues for your feedback and discussion, among them:

  • the state of volunteerism since COVID;
  • metrics used in assessing program performance, especially when the school district won’t participate;

  • strategies for applying for grant and foundation funding;

  • advice in searching for a successor.

We will also outline some of the programs we’re now scheduling for the next few months.
