More and more employers are recognizing the value of older workers. That didn’t just happen by itself. AARP has been at the forefront of the effort to engage employers by equipping them with resources, guidance, and support. As part of that effort, we are thrilled that AARP is sponsoring The Encore Network’s Age-Friendly Employers Guide.
Heather Tinsley-Fix leads AARP’s employer engagement initiatives. As our keynote speaker, she will describe the broad range of these initiatives, including the AARP Employer Pledge program. We’ll then hear from a panel of employers that have signed the Pledge; they will talk about why they hire older workers and the benefits they have gained from an intergenerational workforce.
This program follows Ageism Awareness Day (October 7) and coincides with National Retirement Security Week (October 15-21). Both are relevant because ageism is still a major hurdle for older adults who want and need to continue working in their retirement years. AARP and The Encore Network are connecting their efforts to make that possible.
