Since the early 1990s, Helen Dennis has been an advocate for a new, asset-based view of longer lives, bringing that perspective to award-winning teaching (USC’s Davis School, Andrus Gerontology Center), counseling corporate employees on non-financial aspects of retirement, speaking engagements and writing. She is co-author of the Los Angeles Times bestseller, Project Renewment®: The First Retirement Model for Career Women and more than 100 articles.

Helen was named a 2016 Next Avenue Influencer in Aging for her decades of work. Read the summary of her accomplishments here.

She distills her insights and wide-ranging knowledge in her Successful Aging column, which reaches 1.3 million readers of the Southern California Newspaper Group. Helen noted, “Each October, I write an anniversary column to reflect on what I have learned from our readers during this past year. After completing 16 years and almost 800 columns, I ask myself, “Is there more to write about?” The answer, “Yes.” One reason is that aging is a cross-cutting topic that affects everything from public policy and pensions to testosterone. Another reason is that we all are doing it – fortunately.”
