On April 6th, southern-California-based OneOC‘s Insight Forum presented the EncoreOC Fellowship program launch at the Santa Ana Delhi Center. The event was attended by nonprofit organizations, corporate partners and community members.

Keynote speaker Charles Antis, Founder and CEO of Antis Roofing & Waterproofing talked about his pro bono work donating a roof for every Habitat for Humanity home built in Orange County, more than 70 so far. Other lead speakers were Nancy Peterson, Encore.org VP and La Val Brewer, Executive Director of Playworks Southern California. Panelists shared their experiences as skills-based volunteers and nonprofit executives shared the impact of skills-based volunteers in their organizations, inspiring individuals to use their skills and organizations to recruit encore talent.

Nancy commented, “Turnout was great for the launch of One OC’s EncoreOC project-based fellows program with attendees representing so many sectors. Other presenters included La Val Brewer of Playworks of Southern California and Abby Edmunds, One OC’s Volunteer Services Encore Manager. OneOC is an Encore Network member and Playworks a Gen2Gen partner . . . great to see these connections seamlessly in action on the ground. Both are models of how encore can be embedded in organizations and communities. I’m always humbled by the creativity and commitment in on-the-ground work of organizations like these.”
