Labs for Change

Join an  Affinity Group. These are self-organized, member-driven initiatives motivated by shared interest in and commitment to a mission-related topic. These groups control their own agendas, focus on action and results, collaborate on projects, and develop a common identity.

Affinity Groups are open to members of The Encore Network. Non-members may attend as guests but are expected to join the Network to continue their participation.

Anyone can start a new Affinity Group by proposing a topic and identifying a leader or co-leaders to convene and facilitate meetings. A proposal with relevant information should be addressed to the Program & Engagement Committee here.

Current Affinity Groups

Over-50 Employment Affinity Group   As the only growing segment o the workforce, people over 50 want and need to continue working and contributing to the economy. Yet they are often overlooked or denied opportunity. This Affinity Group is focused on removing barriers and advancing opportunities for paid work. Sign up for upcoming meetings here.

Encore Entrepreneurship Affinity Group   More people over 50 start businesses than any other age group. And they are 2-3 times more likely to succeed. Yet there are very few programs to meet their needs. This Affinity Group aims to close that gap by connecting current initiatives and making resources more broadly available. Allies Across Ages Affinity Group   This Affinity Group explores, features and supports initiatives that connect people across generations in order to remove barriers to understanding and opportunity for people of all ages.
